SHANGHAI SEMINARY presents Recent Works by Winifred Mason, featuring works on paper made in the recent decade.
According to Ms. Mason, she was born on November 2nd, 1943, in Elizabeth, New Jersey; received a BA from Barnard College and an MA in Art History from Columbia University in the 60s and then visited Vienna, Austria, initially for her doctoral research; got food poisoning, and joined four others to start an artist commune—ten years in kitchen & child care. She returned to the United States in the 80s and began making works during the famously hot Chicago summer of 1995, when she was between jobs. She lives in the Hyde Park neighborhood, Chicago.
This exhibition is Ms. Mason’s gallery debut, and is advised and facilitated by her neighbor, Wilson Yerxa.
